Tusculum View named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Lighthouse School for the 3rd time

Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Lighthouse School Award

Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, Inc. awarded its prestigious Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School Award to over 26 high achieving schools from across the nation at its annual Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, 18th Annual National Conference on December 1st  in Orlando, Florida. Tusculum View Elementary School was honored with a 2017 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Lighthouse School award. Tusculum View is the only school across the Nation that has been recognized three times for this award.

Judy Warden, the president of Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Inc., was present at the meeting to talk about her positive experiences assessing Tusculum View Elementary School. Tusculum View was identified as exhibiting excellence in nine major categories of critical performance.

For a school to be eligible for the award, school officials conduct a self-evaluation of their facility and submit a written application, including information on its progress toward achieving national education goals. Parents and community members also assessed the school through surveys. Blue Ribbon Schools of excellence identifies best practices and programs through cite visits, proven practices, and interaction with school communities. A review panel then selects the most promising schools by experienced educators who report on their findings, then suggest winners.

Based on interviews and findings during the evaluation process, Principal DeAnna Martin was invited to present at the 2017 National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Conference. Dr. Suzanne Bryant, Assistant Director of Instruction, and Stacy King, Instructional Specialist, also presented best practices at the National Conference.
