What is Science?
Science is the process by which we figure out how the world around us works. Scientists learn about their subject by observing, describing, and experimenting. TV 3rd graders will work through an inquiry-based curriculum to address topics covering Life, Earth, and Physical Science. This curriculum is based on the Next Generation Science Standards, which are aligned to Common Core. Students collaborate with peers to complete labs, STEM projects, inquiry based lessons, research, and models. Students are evaluated on labs and interactives, projects, interactive notebooks, participation, quizzes and tests, and written prompts.

What is Social Studies?
Third grade students will gain a foundation in geography, as well as learn world geography, United States geography, and Tennessee geography. In addition, students will learn basic terminology and study the role of economics through the lens of Tennessee. Students will develop skills across the six essential elements of geography: the world in spatial terms, places and regions, physical systems, human systems, environment and society, and the uses of geography. Students will be evaluated on interactive notebooks, participation, quizzes and tests, projects, and written prompts.
