Update on At Home Learning Plan 3-27-20

Good evening Tiger families,

This is Dr. Luttrell and I want to update you on the plan for instruction .  I hope all of you are doing well and staying healthy and distanced from others.

Next week we are kicking off our Learning at Home program.  We are excited to share these resources with you. We want this to be a time of relaxed and engaging learning for our students and parents.  For K-2 students, we continue to work on a plan for sending computers home and hope to have that finalized and communicated next week. We have worked this week to make sure that all students in grades 3-5 have their computers at home. Next week we ask that parents in all grades  work with their children to practice using two amazing tools that are provided by our district.  The first tool is the Launchpad, which houses all of the software learning tools that are provided by our district.  The second tool is your child’s gcschools email account.  Please visit our school website at https://tusculumview.gcschools.net and click on the new Learning at Home button. This page has resources that are currently active, and resources that will be active at a later time.  If your child is in grades k, 1, or 2 please click on the link that says How Do I Access Launchpad for My K-2 Student.  Parents of students in grades 3-5, please ask your student to show you how they use the Launchpad, if they are unsure, you can watch this same video.  Grades 3-5 parents, also follow the link to the video titled How Does My Grades 3-5 Student Check Their Email. We ask that beginning on Tuesday, March 31st, all students spend 45 minutes to an hour per day utilizing the learning resources that are on the Launchpad. There are also some videos on the Learning at Home site that explain how many of these programs work and this section will be updated regularly as more videos become available.  In addition to working on the programs on the Launchpad next week, please make sure your children are reading at least 30 minutes per day. There are great book choices on My On Reader on the Launchpad.  Finally, make sure your children in grades 3-5 are checking their emails frequently for messages and updates from their teachers. The buttons for grade level specific resources will be active beginning April 4th. Information that is specific to Pre-k will be sent out next week.

If you have questions or needs, please email me or leave a message with the school at 423.639.2751.

Stay well!

Dr. Luttrell
