Weekly News from Dr. Luttrell 8-9-20

Good afternoon Tusculum View family,

Thank you for your attendance to our Drive Through Luau!  It was so wonderful to see all of your smiling faces and hear your laughter.  School isn’t the same without the pitter patter of little feet, children’s laughter, hugs from your little ones, evidence hanging on walls of their learning, and their sweet stories.

Our teachers and staff at Tusculum View have been working hard all summer to prepare for virtual learning.  To most, this is an entirely new experience.  For our elementary age students, they are pioneers in this uncharted world.  How exciting.  How scary. How overwhelming!  Tusculum View and Greeneville City Schools staff are here to help as you experience technical issues, have navigation questions, feel overwhelmed, or simply just don’t know what to do.  Tutorial videos are available to help navigate your student’s Canvas course.

Parents and guardians, please check your emails daily for updates from teachers. Also, email your student’s teacher if you have any issues logging in, connecting to Zoom, accessing content.  If you haven’t picked up your student’s “at home” learning kits, please come by the school from 8 – 3, Monday through Friday.

Please practice logging in to Canvas and navigating the site with your student and those who will be helping your student during the school day so you all can become more familiar with locations and content. For instance, in 3rd grade student schedules are posted on the “Synchronous Learning Schedule” page on Canvas.

Zoom schedules are posted on the home page of your student’s Canvas course. Please login and check those today to plan for tomorrow.  Students should be logged into Canvas in the morning between 8:15-8:30 according to their schedule that teachers communicated with you.  Then click the Monday button to see the agenda for the day. This will give you time to possibly watch the daily message and prepare for your student’s first Zoom meeting. Students will click the Zoom link when it is time to join the meeting. Grades 3-5 will need to check your email to know which is their first class and log into that course first.
