Good afternoon Tiger families. This is Dr. Luttrell and here are several announcements for the week of September 14th. Due to the amount of information in this call, please check your email for the same information.
We hope you had a restful and enjoyable weekend. We will resume online learning for grades 1-5 and hybrid full days for preK, kindergarten, and our highest needs students. As you already know, GCS grades K-12 will move to full day Hybrid A/B schedule on September 28th. Teachers will be contacting students this week to let them know what days, A or B, they will attend school. We already have these lists made and have matched days for siblings in elementary, middle, and high school. Scheduled days for students have been carefully selected to balance numbers, so we are not able to take requests as to what day you would like for your child to attend. If there is an error in sibling days, please contact the school.
Please note that Greeneville City Schools A/B hybrid days are Monday & Tuesday for the A group and Wednesday & Thursday as the B group with online learning on Fridays. Greene County School System is following a different schedule.
When dropping off or picking up students in car line or at the bus, for the safety of everyone, please do NOT pass other cars or the bus as they are waiting or dropping off their student. If you are buckling in your student after pick up, please pull as far up past the mailbox in the front circle as possible or in a parking space on the side parking lot to keep the line of traffic moving.
If your grade 1-5 student has been notified that you will be attending this Wednesday and Thursday from 8 – 3 pm, your student will need to bring their mask, computer, charger, headphones, and Zoom learning materials that have been sent home to use in class.
- Drop off begins at 7:30 am at the side parking lot and pick up begins at 3 pm. You may begin lining up for pickup at 2:55 pm at the front circle.
- They will be offered breakfast and lunch and must wear a mask while on the bus and at school.
- If you are a bus rider, your bus driver should have contacted you about pickup and drop off times. If you have not heard from them, please call the school and we will help you get this information.
We will have another pick up day this Thursday, September 17th from 7:30 until 5 pm at the BOTTOM OF THE SIDE PARKING LOT UNDER THE AWNING.
Attention Tusculum View families: GSIA needs your help!! You should've received info from GSIA with your supply pick-up packets last week. Please take time to consider becoming a GSIA member ($10 per family), a member of the Tiger Team (volunteer) or a corporate sponsor. TV Elementary is heavily supported by the GSIA and all family support is welcomed and encouraged. Please take a minute to look through the GSIA info and consider participating. GSIA membership drive ends this Friday, September 18th. You may send your membership form and dues to school if you have student who will be attending this week or you may bring it when you pick up your packets on Thursday. Thank you to all you do to support Tusculum View!
Fall pictures for students will be September 28th for the A group of students (please not this is the first day of the hybrid schedule for all students). The B group will take pictures on October 8th. If you are an EDGE student, you may come on September 28th from 8-10 to have your picture taken.
We want to thank families for their support and hard work during online learning. It has not been easy, but together we have worked through issues and saw student success. Attending live Zoom meetings and doing your work daily is a great help to staying caught up and understanding content. I recognize that there is still frustration, difficulties, and questions many of you may have. It is very tempting to ask or express them during your Zoom call during the lesson or stay on after with your student’s teacher without an appointment. Please note that Zoom calls are our classrooms while we are online. Just as a parent or family member would not be in the classroom asking questions or voicing concerns, Zoom calls are not the place for this either. It is distracting and inappropriate for adults to interrupt the lesson or stay on the Zoom call to talk with teachers or voice concerns without making an appointment first. Teachers reserve the time after whole group Zooms to have individual help for students or small groups. If parents or guardians have questions about your student and their classes, please reach out to your teacher via school email through your email. Canvas email should only be used by students to communicate with teachers. You may also contact your teacher during their scheduled office hours or contact the school to make an appointment.
Special message for grades 3-5: Each year, all students in Greeneville City Schools third, fourth, and fifth grades are required to complete a Digital Citizenship and Safety Training course. Students have two weeks to watch the Digital Citizenship video and submit the short test. When your child has submitted their test, we will check off your name as having completed your training course for this school year. You will find the Digital Citizenship video and test as your lesson in this week’s TV Special Classes Canvas Course on the Library Class third, fourth, and fifth grade page.
