Good afternoon Tiger families. Here are several announcements for the week of January 3rd. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break, enjoyed the snow and spending time with family, and are rested up for another semester of learning and fun! What a beautiful, white Christmas we had! Did you get to play in the snow and build a snowman, sled, or make a snow angel? Maybe we will get to see more snow this winter! As Mr. Starnes announced, we will begin the semester on January 7th virtually and continue this through January 15th. He will announce the learning mode for January 18th and beyond next week.

I am trying out a different form of communication to spice things up a bit and be able to include pictures and graphics. It is called SMORE. Please click on the link below to access it. Message from Mr. Starnes regarding return to school
All students will now resume classes on January 7, 2021, in a virtual learning mode and remain in virtual learning mode through at least Friday, January 15, 2021. We will continue to monitor conditions and provide additional communication during the first week of January.
Our School Nutrition Team will continue to offer curbside meal pickup service for all children in the community 18 years old and younger when schools are in session. Meals may be picked up at either Hal Henard Elementary School or at Greeneville High School between 11:00 am and 12:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please sign up using this SURVEY to register for meal services.
Our Week at a Glance
- Monday - No school for students or staff
- Tuesday - No school for students; Administrative day for teachers
- Wednesday - No school for students; Professional learning day for teachers
- Thursday - Students return to school virtually. Check your email and Canvas page for schedule and details. Packet Pickup for ALL students - EDGE and In-Person at the front cirlce of the school from 7:30 am until 5 pm.
- Friday - Students are all learning virtually.
Please write your child’s name on their coats, hats, gloves, scarves (and even lunch boxes). We begin to collect many items left behind this time of year and know you want to keep up with your child’s things best you can.
Extras in the Cafeteria
Mrs. Lesa will begin serving extras in the cafeteria when we return from winter break in January. In order for students to buy extras, they must have money in their account.
The following extras will be available:
Cookies – 0.65
Chips – 0.65
Fruit roll up – 0.65
Water – 1.00
Gatorade – 1.25
Afternoon Student Pickup
Please remember that we will not be able to allow vehicles to begin lining up in our parking lots or the side roads until 2:55 pm. We need to keep our building open to in coming traffic in the event a student needs to be picked up. With current COVID guidelines, a student is required to be sent home if they exhibit one symptom. When cars line up too early, it prohibits traffic from entering the school because cars cannot pass. Thank you for your understanding during this time, and we appreciate those who have cooperated.
Thank you for working with your students to get in and out of your vehicles. They are doing a great job! Again, please do not get out of your vehicle to buckle or unbuckle. If you student is picked up or dropped off by a grandparent or someone other than you, please let them know if your student is unable to get in or out by themselves, please pull over into a parking space and assist them so the line can keep moving.
For morning drop off, the front circle is open beginning around 7:40 am. Using this area for drop off will help keep the line down.
Attendance will be taken each day of the week, Monday – Friday. If students do not complete work or watch videos/Zooms for days they are not in-person, they will be counted absent. Please make sure your child is completing their work for the day and you are communicating with their teacher if you are having issues.
Remember, if your student is absent you have 3 parent notes per semester that can be sent in and have the absence counted as excused. Pease refer to the student handbook for a more in-depth attendance explanation. Thank you for your cooperation in this very important matter.
Online School Store
Open year round, 24 hours a day! Check it often for new items and designs. You can pay online and pick up at school or it will be sent home with your student. Order now in time for Christmas!
Lunch and Breakfast
Lunch and breakfast are free for all students until the June.
