From past to present, what a blast! Our Kindergarten students stepped into history for their Long Ago Day.

They got a taste of the "good old days" with hands-on activities as they experienced life long ago, from making their own butter and crafting dolls, to playing with Lincoln Logs, writing with chalk and quills by candlelight, mailing letters, and more. Long Ago Day was full of new (old!) skills.

Third Grade took a field trip to Rural Resources. When they arrived, they divided into groups and rotated through many stations, visiting animals and other demonstrations. *Students saw rabbits, cows, and goats.
*Rush Bakshi showed green beans and okra and let students cut them open and look at the insides.
*Sarah Creutzinger had different food items students could use to either build a plant or an animal.
*Students also learned about about the food web and used yarn to demonstrate how each item is needed to complete the web, using vocabulary words like sun, producer, and consumer.
*Students visited a greenhouse and made a flower seed bomb they can plant in the spring to grow a small flower patch at their home.

Tiger Time students and other art students in Mrs. Harmon's class are making holiday cards to send to troops in the coming weeks. This year we are sending to 4 soldiers who have a local connection to Greeneville. One each in the Army, Navy, Air Force and a Marine who is starting basic training this month. Students will see photos of the soldiers and discuss how hard it is to be away from family during holidays and how sometimes even the smallest things like a cute drawing can make your day better.

Second grade students read the book "Creepy Carrots" and then created their own creepy and cute carrots to hide around the library. Students even discovered an autographed copy of the book that reads:

"To Tusculum View Students: Eat more broccoli! Aaron Reynolds, 2016"

What is your favorite book to read in October?
