Student Wins 1st Place in 2024-2025 Tennessee Association of School Librarians Bookmark Contest

Over 150 students from across Tennessee submitted an original design for the annual bookmark contest, sponsored by the Tennessee Association of School Librarians.

The theme of this year’s contest is “Reading is Magical at your School Library”.

Student entries were judged by illustrator Cindy Knox in the categories of creativity, execution of the theme, and use of materials.

Tusculum View fourth grader Totianya Zamora Moore placed first in the Intermediate division. She will receive a $25 Amazon gift card, 50 bookmarks of her design, and an award certificate.

Her librarian, Nikita Stephens, will receive 200 bookmarks of Totianya’s winning design and a poster copy of the design.

Copies of Totianya’s bookmark will also be sent to the Tennessee State Legislature and distributed to librarians across the state at the TASL conference this fall.

Ms. Stephens, Tusculum View Media Specialist:

“We are so proud of Totianya! She is a very creative student, and she is also hardworking, thoughtful, and demonstrates our TV Tiger virtues! This is a well-deserved honor. We were able to give a bookmark to all Totianya’s fourth grade classmates and share with the staff in our building.

I present this TASL bookmark contest opportunity to fourth and fifth grade students every year. If they choose to participate, students begin their designs in library class but finish in their free time at home, parents give permission to participate, and I mail in their entry. I have submitted entries for this contest for several years, but this is our first winner! We are very excited!”
