"Ceramics students at Greeneville High School recently completed a special project with Amanda Harmon’s fifth graders at Tusculum View Elementary School.

The younger students created drawings of imaginary sea creatures, and the high schoolers used those drawings as inspiration to sculpt clay versions of the creatures.

Throughout the project, the students wrote letters back and forth, sharing ideas and getting to know each other.

“It was such a joyful, creative experience that connected our students across schools and age levels in a really meaningful way,” said Rachel Redmon, GHS ceramics teacher.

The project wrapped up with a field trip to Tusculum View.

The high school students hand-delivered their sculptures, talked with the fifth graders about the collaboration, and then they spent some time playing together on the playground."

Mrs. Harmon's fifth grade classes drew sea creatures and then Mrs. Redmon's GHS artists created 3-D clay versions of their drawings to give to the fifth graders. The GHS art students visited Tusculum View to meet with their fifth-grade artist partners.

Their artwork was on display at our Tiger Arts Gala Glow Gallery on on April 6th
